“Breath of Protection” – a protective candle in a ceramic vessel with protective symbols and light perforations

Creating the "Breath of Protection" is not just a craft, but a ritual in the material world. Each stage is filled with intention, meaning, and quiet devotion to the ancient power of fire and clay.

🔸 First — clay.
Coarse, fireclay clay is used — the kind that remembers the warmth of the earth and can hold its shape, even when time tries to bend it. The master craftsman hand-molds a rounded vessel, a symbol of a closed circle of protection, where fire can be enclosed inside — like a heart under the skin.

🔸 Then comes perforation.
Holes are punched into the body of the vessel. Not randomly.
Each one is like a point of breath through which light will later emerge.
It is like stars in the night, like eyes in an amulet through which power watches.
Many masters call this "energy exit paths" — and these are not just words.

🔸 Patterns.
Symbols are scratched onto the surface by hand — iconic, sharp, protective. These are stylized forms that refer to ancient images: the roof of a house, the eye of a guardian, the symbol of protection of the family. Each symbol is applied not mechanically — but as a talisman, personal and alive.

🔸 Firing.
After drying, the vessel undergoes its first firing at a temperature of about 950°C, like purification through fire.
Then it is covered with glaze: white and dark, like day and night. The top is covered with a deep, almost black glaze with a green tint, like a forest before a storm. The bottom is light, cautious, calm, to balance the elements.

A second firing takes place at around 1050°C. At this point, the clay becomes stone, the vessel becomes durable, and the symbols are permanently fused into the surface.

🔸 The final act is fire.
Berry-pink soy wax is poured inside — the color of life, love, and inner strength.
The wick is lowered into the center — like an energy axis, a point of balance between the material and the immaterial.
When the candle burns, it seems to breathe through the slits, allowing the flame to escape along its own paths — not just illuminating, but purifying, protecting, and filling the space with itself.

Each candle is created in silence.
No conveyor belts. No repetitions.
Just the master, clay, flame, and intention.
This is what turns it into a real talisman, not just an object.
